I’m super excited to share that Underwater is a finalist for the 2018 Sequoyah Book Awards in the high school category. This award is presented by the Oklahoma Library Association.

Underwater is in some stellar company and I couldn’t be more honored.

You can read more about it here.

I amFinal-Copies-Stack so excited because we are mere days away from the UK release of UNDERWATER on April 7, 2016. I received final copies of the book and they literally sparkle in the sunlight. SPARKLE! I keep moving them around to catch the light and shoot streaks of starbursts across my face. Yes. I really do.

Today, I learned that My Kinda Book–the awesome website for all things Macmillan Children’s UK–has chosen UNDERWATER as their Book of the Month for April. I am thrilled. You can read all about it here.

Earlier this week, the fabulous Nicola W. of Queen of the Bookshelves hosted an exclusive cover reveal for the UK version of UNDERWATER. And oh, what fun it was! Nicola’s awesome post put both covers up side by side and put it to a vote. And it was hard to tell which cover got more love.

In the meantime, I’m just standing over here feeling like the very lucky writer person who has had the great fortune of two fantastic covers. I honestly can’t say which one I love more because they are each so special and perfectly perfect in their own way.

Here is all the sparkly magic of the UK cover. I hope you love it as much as I do.

I am thrilled to share the news that UNDERWATER was one of ten middle grade/young adult debut novels, chosen by the American Booksellers Association for their Indies Introduce New Voices for winter/spring 2016.

A panel of sellers for independent bookstores (my favorite) read a whole bunch of ARCs and selected ten adult and ten MG/YA titles to highlight for the winter/spring 2016 season.

Yep. It didn’t even sink in for a couple of days.

I was driving to a doctor’s appointment (not my favorite) when I got a call on my cell phone from the fabulous Kari Meutsch from Phoenix Books in Burlington, VT. Because I was driving, I couldn’t pick up so I had to wait until I was in the parking lot to call her back. Kari had so many nice things to say about UNDERWATER that it reminded me of my first call with my agent or editor.

Yep. It was that exciting, you guys.

A few days later, the official announcement came out and you can read all about it here.

I want to say thank you to ABA and the amazing panel of MG/YA booksellers for this incredible honor.

Welcome to my new officially official author website, friends! Isn’t it pretty? I love how my awesome designer, Sean Hastings, incorporated so many UNDERWATER feels throughout the site.

Speaking of UNDERWATER, it’s, like, out in the world!

Out. In. The. World.

Advanced reader copies (ARCs) are making their way across the U.S. and there have been so many pretty pictures sent to me of my book out in the wild. This is especially lovely since UNDERWATER is about seventeen-year-old Morgan Grant who struggles with agoraphobia after a tragic incident at her high school. Morgan is afraid to cross the threshold of her front door so it’s especially profound that Morgan is getting outside in all these lovely ARC photos.

Thank you to all my advance readers for sharing Morgan on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Goodreads.

I can’t wait for you to meet her!
